Why?

Yes! Thank you for voting in my blogpost poll. I am so excited to see people visiting me here. I thank you thank you thank you for voting, but now I need to push you just a little bit further...Why? Why are you voting for the people you are? What are the main issues that sway you to one side or the other? Discuss...

I am voting for the team with the most integrity. Maybe that means neither...ha ha. But I like to have someone in there who will stick to their morals and not sway with every potitical wind.

My biggest issue is the economy, and related to that is the energy crisis. Obama, if you read into the details of all his policies, is a flaming socialist. I am a flaming capitalist and I'm sick and tired of having the government spend my money to ruin programs the private sector could do better. I dont think McCain understands the economy as well as say Romney would have, but he at least is not going to make it worse, as Obama would. And with Palin at his side, he seems to want to encourage businesses to find alternative energy instead of spending taxpayer's money on government programs (see Obama's speeches). I mean does anyone think the government does a better job of running something than businesses do? You can look at the 30% fraud rate in Medicare to see the answer to that...
Anyhow, yeah, as usual it's a choice between the lesser of two evils rather than who I really love, but I consider the greater evil to be far worse than the lesser in this case.

First I would like to say that I do not belong to a political party and don't think that people should blindly follow a political group. I applaud you for seeking out information.

I have started to lean toward the Obama ticket because I really think that he is the candidate most likely to work with Dems, Reps, and those that don't belong to those groups. McCain used to be that type of person, but has seemed to move away from his "Maverick" status since he began running for President.

I also see the economy as a major issue, however I do not believe the answer is to get rid of all government intervention and let business take care of things. Laissez faire economics has been tried and leads to depression-like conditions. I don't think that government programs are the problem (although we need to see which programs are needed and effective). I don't buy the argument that the private sector can always do better. I think that there needs to be some balance between the private and the governmental sector. (You will find fraud and deceit in both public and private sector)

I really feel that we need someone that will not just tow the party line. Like I said, McCain used to be the rebel that wasn't afraid to do that. I fear that the run for the presidency has changed that though; he has lost what made him appealing earlier. Of course, i don't see Obama is perfect (and those who think they are gong to ever find a perfect candidate are delusional.) I see Obama as a positive change to government.

Also, as an aside...I hope that everyone is taking just as much interest in their state and local elections. When it comes down to it, who will probably have a greater impact in your daily life.
